I brought Sage home from the pet store knowing she would be pregnant because she was in a tank of both sex rats. Sage was so named because the lighting in the store gave her coat a weak sage tea color. Naturally her kids were also given spice/herb names

At one and a half weeks old I am holding this baby boy in the palm of my hand. His eyes are not even open yet, but he gropes for my finger with tiny paws, and once finding it, he licks my finger tip and chews on my finger nail. I knew then that I would forever be keeping all the babies that were born in my home.
Baeli was the alpha male among his brothers.

Their bodies held in storage in the freezer, awaiting this day,
the Spice Kids were cremated, their ashes mingled,
